The Northwind 60 is a luxury, bespoke deck saloon sloop built by Northwind Shipping Ltd in Spain. Barbas was commissioned by a prominent Spanish lawyer and built to exacting standards. The timber work is rich and stylish, the appointments numerous and very comfortable. She sails extremely well and with the ample power plant, effortlessly motors at more than 8 knots.
She was sailed by the previous owner from Spain to Singapore where she was sold to the present owner. He has cruised SE Asian waters and recently sailed the boat to Australia where he and his family have settled. Barbas is Australian registered and fully compliant.
Barbas features dual, fully covered cockpits which allows for comfortable lounging and efficient sailing to occur simultaneously.
Barbas is fully air conditioned, has a large water maker, ice maker, washing machine, 7Kva genset, chef's galley, bow thruster and 2 tenders. In all, everything you need for extremely comfortable living and cruising.
There is plenty of entertainment equipment and a sophisticated satellite communications system. The owner's stateroom aft is large and luxurious and features a private ensuite bathroom. The saloon is also large and being a deck saloon features extensive views, seating for 10 at the table and comfortable leather upholstery. Moving forward and to port, there is a comfortable double guest cabin which also includes an ensuite bathroom. To starboard is a double single berth cabin and another bathroom with a crew cabin/ storage area in the bow. She has a cavernous lazarette aft and a fold down transom providing a large duck board just above the waterline. Bespoke davits accommodate the large centre cockpit tender with the other tender stored on the foredeck.
The current owner is a marine engineer so with his expertise the attention to detail and the high level of maintenance and repair of all systems is impressive. Since in Australia, Barbas has had new sails fitted, new rigging, new generator, new air conditioning plants, new refrigeration and a new water maker. Barbas is offered for sale with numerous spares included and offers a new owner a complete sailing package all at an extremely high level of quality and sophistication. With her moderate draft Barbas is perfect for WA getaways or adventures further afield.
Barbas has recently been slipped (June 23) and now has new antifoul, prop protection, new rudder bearings and seals, new ball valves and skin fittings, new wind anemometer, new spray dodger and clears and a refurbished bow thruster (incl. New motor, solenoids and prop).
