Description: The Buizen name is legendary and Penelope is a magnificent example of the superb craftmanship and the no expense spared attitude of the Buizen brothers. Penelope is a pilot house cutter and features an internal helm station as well as the traditional external cockpit. With her classic lines, bespoke interior and clean teak decks, this 48 foot fast cruising boat is absolutely gorgeous.
Penelope has been fastidiously maintained by her owner and presents in excellent condition. She has been kept in a condition true to the original design which encompasses excellent sailing characteristics and a high level of comfort. The owners area forward is a standout with an extra large, walk around double bed, luxurious twin lounging chairs, private entertainment system and an ensuite bathroom. Guests have their own private double cabin aft and a seperate bathroom. A large, centrally located saloon area, chefs galley, single berth cabin and internal helm station complete the luxury accomodation.
Penelope features electric/hydraulic furling systems for the genoa and mainsail. The primary and secondary winches are also electric/hydraulic. The staysail and staysail halyard are operated by manual winches. The large electric anchor winch is fully automated. She has a powerful, low hours Yanmar engine and a bow thruster making getting home and docking easy. The double spreader, aluminium mast has recently had new rigging, electrical wiring and hardware, installed at the Buizen facility in Sydney 3 years ago.
The electronics are extensive and include integrated systems at both the internal and external helm stations. The Onan genset has recently been fully refurbished and also presents like new and the engine has done only 975 hours because Penelope is very much a sailing vessel. The teak decks are pristine, the covers and clears in excellent condition and overall the boat presents like new. She is truly a credit to the owner and the skill of her builders.
Penelope has a beautifull solid teak and cherry interior which has been painstakingly revarnished and looks like new. Laid teak and ash floors, leather upholstery and padded leatherette lining complete the luxurious internal finish. Superbly appointed, she would be ideal to spend months aboard cruising the Whitsundays or South Pacific, yet is also suitable for short trips due to her ease of handling. More than capable of bluewater passage making, she is cleverly designed so that she can just as easily be shorthanded on a Wednesday twilight with family and friends, and with her comfortable spaces above and below decks she is made for entertaining.
